Shadow Chaser:

Well, I posted a comment on www.the-leaky-cauldron.org about a newspaper article the webmistresses and masters found. Anyways, here's my response on why I don't think Sirius Black is quite dead...

When Harry entered the Department of Mysteries he said that he found a dais with a veil in it and he and Luna Lovegood heard voices from within. What if those voices were those that passed into the veil, but couldn't get out? And if you noticed, Sirius was hit with a "jet of red light". That looks a bit like the Impediment Curse or hell even the other Unforgiveable Curses, but most definitely not Avada Kedavra.

Remember, Avada Kedavra was a jet of green light. So Sirius could have been stunned and fell into the veil. Which brings us back to what the hell is it? In my humble opinion, I think its a gateway. No, not like the heaven sort of thing...more like a dimensional gateway that takes it to the previous door which Harry tried to get through but couldn't (the one where he tried to use Sirius' multi-tool that he gave him and it melted). And what's in that door?

Power.

What kind of power? Your guess is as good as mine. My guess is that its power that's beyond anything anyone had ever seen. It's the power that who ever wields it would make them dangerous (remember the Department of Mysteries is Mysteries). So then who are the voices?

Temptation.

They are the voices beckoning for Harry to come join them, to be engulfed in the viel and possibly be destroyed by the power beyond. So if Sirius fell in and was "consumed" how come I think he isn't dead? Simple. He fell through involuntarily. I feel that Sirius didn't want that power so he would be able to come back out alive from it.

Remember, this is all my speculations. For all I know, J.K. Rowling wanted Sirius dead, to go out in a blaze of glory (well...not exactly as he could have ducked Bellatrix' curse). Now, how would Sirius come back out alive? I think when they open the door that cannot be opened. I think Dumbledore knows what's behind there and he knows that Sirius isn't dead. I mean he is quite calm (though you can say that he has faced a lot of his colleagues' death), and he doesn't seem to be worried that Sirius is dead and Harry is distraught.

But then you can accuse me of being in denial, after all, Sirius is my favorite character. But for those who know me, you can also say that I do have a point. In the NJO books of Star Wars, Troy Denning killed Anakin Solo, one of my favorite characters, but I do think Anakin is quite dead, but able to come back in spirit form. But that's for another blog posting. ^_^

I'll probably add more to this little rambling as I collect my thoughts, but overall, I loved Order of the Phoenix and applaud Ms. Rowling for an excellent read. I just hope that Book 6 comes through soon!
