I just came from watching X-Men 2: X-Men United. Oh my god...for those who don't want to read about it, please go to another blog or to my fanfic page on fanfiction.net. This will contain huge spoilers...
The ending is so obvious that Brian Singer is going to be doing the Phoenix Saga, or at least his intepretation of it. Which brings to light whether the Shi'ar Empire will get invovled and hopefully if we see a spot or a glimpse of Scott's past (aka Cosair and Havoc), cause they didn't really do to much with Cyke this time around...again...
Jean Grey, "dies" in this movie. Note the quotes around dies. You can see that she is becoming Phoenix in all of her close eye-shots and finally in the full-body shot during the last few scenes. Wow...and to say I can't wait! ^_^ My sis just told me that when I was just a wee little 2nd grader in Elementary school (early 1990s) a group of kids used to play X-Men and I was casted the part of Jean Grey. Creepy...
I loved how they did Iceman's history in the new movie, though it's a bit skewed at times, but then again with Iceman, in the comics and cartoons, I've always had a soft spot for him. And for Cyke (yes I am one of the few, probably one out of every three Cyke haters, to be a fan...) I've always disliked Logan/Wolverine for interfering in Cyke's and Jean, excuse me, Phoenix's, relationship, especially from his appearance in the comic books. I don't know...Wolverine never appealed to me, where as ruby-glassed Scott Summers always did wonders for my beating heart. Don't ask...its just a fan girl (a few fangirls of the X-Men comic and cartoon genre) working her maniacal schemes.
Oh yeah, speaking of schemes...got a semi-screwed up X-Men: Evolution fic on the drawing board... I'm planning to twist both Apocalypse and Phoenix Saga into one mashed up thing...but I think it might be hard for me to sort through so much different material swimming their lazy backstrokes in my brain. Great...now I have to deal with this... ^_^ Stay on the lookout for it!
Rogue...let's see...I don't like her in this movie or in the other movie. I hated her. I want her to absorb Ms. Marvel so I can sit back content and see her fly around! And where the hell is Gambit! There has to be a Rogue and a Gambit! Grr...
Pyro was the best. Hee hee...that little traitor (giggles madly). Though I have yet to see the other members of the Brotherhood...wonder where they all went for this movie...hmm... Mystique...oohhh...now that's an enigma. I was seriously hoping for her to reveal that she's the adopted mother of Rogue and the biological mother of Kurt, but she didn't. Darn. Anyways, hee hee...cool special effects in her shape shifting through I wish she put on more clothes... *Sighs* Ah...
Kurt. Kurt Wagner. Nighcrawler. Never liked him, though I hope that Brian Singer shows a bit of a friendship in the next movie between him and Kitty/Shadowcat. Hee hee...
Which brings up the possibility of more mutants. I was wishing for Angel/Archangel to make an appearance or even perhaps Psylocke, but alas...to no avail...but I was seriously happy with Lady Deathstrike. Ouchie...nice death scene they did for her, a bit on the gross side, but I loved it anyways.
Okay...okay...here is a list of my fave mutants from the X-Men Universe: Cyke/Scott Summers, Jean Grey/Phoenix, Iceman/Bobby Drake, Psylocke/Betsy Braddock, Archangel/Warren Worthington III (avenging hearts are cool), Rogue (when she absorbed Ms. Marvel and can fly!), and Destiny (hee hee...)
Least Favorite mutants: Havoc (god he has a huge ego...though in Evolution they made him nice...), Wolverine, Mr. Sinister (he's scarey...creepy...), Mesmero (definite scaryness), and when I get the chance, I'll write more...
